Lia would be a much better character if either they properly adapted Runo's aggressive characteristics or just got rid of them. It's just awful and makes Lia come off hysterical and unhinged. It's almost always played off as some (unfunny) joke. And often enough, people actually fight back against her.Д«y contrast, Lia just gets pissed off at every little thing like some Tsundere in a trashy anime. For example, Dan or Shun saying something offensive towards her or Dan threatening to kick Marucho out are issues that anyone would probably the same. Runo's aggression was realistic and understandable because she got angry at issues that people would actually get angry at. But the traits that are clearly ripped off from Runo are incredibly hamfisted.

I agree with you because Lia does have original traits that make her different from Runo. Seriously, Lia bloody sucks as a reboot Runo lacking all of her nuisances and realistic human behavior that made Runo compelling.

Kinda sucks that this writing talent is missing in NV and beyond, even in the reboot. I personally think should've just stayed platonic friends instead of some weird will they/won't they romance that eventually lead to the won't. Their character arc where they go from bitter hatred because of Dan's impulsive stupidity as a leader and Runo's aggressive compassion to getting along with each other as mutual partners in the end of season 1 was executed amazingly.

However, to answer the question, I always thought Dan/Runo was a lame ship that shouldn't have happened. Watching every scene she's in and how she behaves says a lot on how carefully thought out and strong the writing was in the first season. She had complex interactions and compelling chemistry with the other heroes in the show. Runo is pretty much my favourite brawler character in the entire show.
